COMPANY UPDATE - October 15, 2020

Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg has identified three additional staff members who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. These individuals work for our Senior Independence Home Health and Hospice agency and did not have contact with any agency clients or with residents on the Westminster Canterbury campus.

The positive results for these new staff members were reported following the testing cycle completed on October 12. These team members are asymptomatic and wore appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working.

As we shared in our October 12 communication, one Senior Independence team member had contact with four residents in the Drinkard Health Center. All residents in healthcare on the Westminster campus were tested last week and all had negative results.

Senior Independence is following all the recommended guidelines for keeping clients and team members safe during this difficult period of Coronavirus uncertainty.

At this time, we are following our policies and procedures related to Influenza prevention and precautions. We have increased infection control measures to include wearing masks and gloves at all times in patients’ homes. Additional protective equipment will be used if necessary.

You and your family members can help us prevent the spread of germs by following these steps.

  • Wash your hands often.
  • Cover your cough/sneeze with a tissue.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Wear a face mask or face shield when out in public.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces often.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Practice social distancing by keeping 6 feet between yourself and other individuals in public areas.
  • Wear disposable gloves in public places, such as the grocery store, gas station, church, etc.

Please continue to wear facemasks, wash your hands often and practice social distancing in all public areas you may visit. Thank you.

Sincerely,
