COMPANY UPDATE - December 31, 2020

Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg received positive COVID-19 test results today for two staff members who work for our Senior Independence Home Health and Hospice agency. These individuals followed proper infection control procedures while working and wore Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) properly as required when providing care to agency clients. The clients, as well as the Department of Health, have been notified.

While these team members visited the Westminster Canterbury campus recently, they did not have contact with residents.

Senior Independence continues to follow all the recommended guidelines for keeping clients and team members safe during this difficult period of Coronavirus uncertainty. The agency follows increased infection control measures to include wearing masks and gloves at all times in patients’ homes. Additional protective equipment is used when necessary.

Please help us keep our team members and your family members healthy and safe.

Continue to wear facemasks, wash your hands often and practice social distancing in all public areas you may visit.

COMPANY UPDATE - October 30, 2020

Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg has identified an additional staff member who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.  This individual works for our Senior Independence Home Health and Hospice agency and did not have contact with any agency clients or with residents on the Westminster Canterbury campus. 

The positive result for this staff member was identified over the past week. This individual experienced symptoms and sought medical attention.

Senior Independence continues to follow all the recommended guidelines for keeping clients and team members safe during this difficult period of Coronavirus uncertainty.  The agency follows increased infection control measures to include wearing masks and gloves at all times in patients’ homes. Additional protective equipment is used when necessary.

Please help us keep our team members and your family members healthy and safe. After speaking with the health department, this outbreak has been cleared.  Continue to wear facemasks, wash your hands often and practice social distancing in all public areas you may visit. Thank you.

The positive result for this staff member was reported late last week. This individual experienced symptoms and sought medical attention.

Senior Independence continues to follow all the recommended guidelines for keeping clients and team members safe during this difficult period of Coronavirus uncertainty.  The agency follows increased infection control measures to include wearing masks and gloves at all times in patients’ homes. Additional protective equipment is used when necessary.

You and your family members can help us prevent the spread of germs by following these steps. 

  • Wash your hands often.
  • Cover your cough/sneeze with a tissue.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Wear a face mask or face shield when out in public.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces often.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Practice social distancing by keeping 6 feet between yourself and other individuals in public areas.
  • Wear disposable gloves in public places, such as the grocery store, gas station, church, etc.

COMPANY UPDATE - October 15, 2020

Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg has identified three additional staff members who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. These individuals work for our Senior Independence Home Health and Hospice agency and did not have contact with any agency clients or with residents on the Westminster Canterbury campus.

The positive results for these new staff members were reported following the testing cycle completed on October 12. These team members are asymptomatic and wore appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working.

As we shared in our October 12 communication, one Senior Independence team member had contact with four residents in the Drinkard Health Center. All residents in healthcare on the Westminster campus were tested last week and all had negative results.

Senior Independence is following all the recommended guidelines for keeping clients and team members safe during this difficult period of Coronavirus uncertainty.

At this time, we are following our policies and procedures related to Influenza prevention and precautions. We have increased infection control measures to include wearing masks and gloves at all times in patients’ homes. Additional protective equipment will be used if necessary.
